Today's read... Are You A Bird Like Me? by Noel Foy and Nicholas Roberto

Today's read heads outdoors and into the animal kingdom...and I'll admit that it was the cover, which first caught my attention. The playful bunch appears so kind and fun. So, I was more than a little curious to see if this entire book holds the same, enjoyable atmosphere. Ready to find out if it does?

MY TIDBITS

Discovering the "whole entire world" becomes a cute adventure with tons of heart and friendship pure.

When Sky was still in her egg, she was content and thought it was the entire world. Then, she hatched to discover that the world held a mother and father bird as well as a nest and plenty of twigs, branches and leaves. That was the entire world...until she fell out of the nest to discover so much more. Too much more, since she also had no idea how to go back to her beloved parents up on the top of the tree.

The wonderful characters and forming friendships radiate goodness throughout this read. It's a book, which warms the heart and puts a huge smile on the face. Sky is an adorable, baby bird, who believes the world is what she sees until it, suddenly, grows bigger. And it does that several times. Her innocence comes across nicely, and she embraces each new friend she meets. All of these characters portray kindness and carefree personalities, which will have young listeners wishing they could play with this bunch themselves.

The illustrations are done with love and let the positive scenes come across clearly and with the matching atmosphere. The text is a bit on the heavier side for picture books, making it an ideal read-aloud for story time or to be read along for those, who are more sure of their words. It's a read to snuggle up with and enjoy.
