COMING...
APRIL 9th, 2019!!!

Protect friendship, family or a creature that's not supposed to exist?

Ana and Daisy have been friends since third grade, but a rift in the space-time continuum in their little town may change that. When a unicorn waltzes into the pasture with Daisy’s appaloosas, a poacher, who will stop at nothing to gain the unicorn horn and its healing tears, shows up. Daisy is focused on saving the unicorn while Ana’s parents face sudden life-threatening health issues. When Ana learns about the healing tears, she’s forced to choose between friendship and her family’s health.

Can the girls find the grace to compromise and save Ana’s parents and the unicorn?

 MY TIDBITS

Young horse lovers who enjoy a dip into the world of fantasy will thoroughly enjoy this tale.

Daisy can't believe her eyes when she finds a white unicorn next to her and Ana's horses. Soon, her and Ana make friends with the unicorn. So much so that Daisy can hear the animal speaking in her head. The unicorn wants to return home, but none of them are sure exactly how it arrived in their town in the first place. As they try to figure out how to help the unicorn, soon hunters show up who want to kill the unicorn for its tears and horn. A NSA agent is also in the mix, claiming he can help. When Ana's parents end up in the hospital, things get even more complicated. Somehow, the girls need to figure everything out.

This is a cute story that especially the younger end of the middle grade spectrum will appreciate. While the girls are in the eighth grade, they act, speak and think a little on the young side. Middle graders will have no problem connecting to them and understand the two. The story is quick paced and allows dialogue to push most of the tale along, which is great for the younger end of this age group as well. The girls are kind, determined and sometimes not sure what they should do. It makes them likable and easy to cheer for.

The horse aspect of the novel comes across nicely and naturally. Horse lovers will enjoy every moment with the animals and recognize little details. The unicorn molds in well and gives the entire thing a lovely, magical twist. The idea of rifts and mythical creatures allows dreams to fly, and it's clear that more is still to come.
