Short and sweet, this little board book is sure to bring some smiles to the youngest reading audience and even a giggle or two.

This is a very short book and perfect for the intended audience. The illustrations are simple, bright, and bold. The dinosaurs are easy to identify and these are placed in simple surroundings. Each page holds a dinosaur, which is partially or completely hidden until a little flap is pulled or a lever is moved. Then, the smiling dino comes out. 

There's a very short text on each page with only two words, the first always peekaboo. The second works with things such as small, tall, and the like. These also form a cute, simple rhyme, which adds even more reading fun.

It's an adorable book for dinosaur fans and for those young readers, who like moving something to discover a surprise underneath.

Camilla Reid has written, conceived and edited children’s books for over twenty years. Her titles for Nosy Crow as an in-house author include the Pip and Posy series (illustrated by Axel Scheffler), the Bizzy Bear series, (illustrated by Benji Davies), and the Felt Flaps series, (illustrated by Ingela P Arrhenius). Her titles for other publishers include The Littlest Dinosaur and the Naughty Rock (illustrated by Michael Foreman, Bloomsbury), the Seriously Cute series (illustrated by Katherine Lodge, Bloomsbury) and the Lulu series, (illustrated by Ailie Busby, Bloomsbury).

Ingela P Arrhenius graduated from art school in the early 90s and has been working as an illustrator ever since. At first, she worked in advertising and magazines, but her focus over the past ten years has been on products and books. Ingela has created patterns for fabrics, wallpaper and stationery, as well as packaging and home accessories. She has also collaborated with several toy producers around the world and her love of retro style, typography and colour is reflected in all her work. Ingela lives in Stockholm with her husband (an author) and two sons.

Today's read... Where's the Cat? by Nosy Crow

I'm super late announcing today's read because we've had a busy and fun day with family and friends, visiting a fair to raise funds and awareness for foster children care. While there were games and projects galore (we were able to pretend we were kids, again), it was touching to see the community come together like that. 

Anyway, today's read heads toward the youngest bookworms out there...and happens to be one of my favorite types of kidlit—a book with flaps! Why don't older books hold things to discover, too? I know it's silly fun, but there's just something about looking under a door to find a surprise, which has me smiling every time.

Searching and finding becomes an adventure for small, animal fans.

This is a board book for the youngest out there and centers around very familiar animals. The question of where a certain animal might be is asked, and then, the listener opens a felt flap (shaped like an object) to discover the animal underneath. 

The illustrations are bright, direct, and familiar. Even the flaps are formed in things listeners/readers will easily recognize (tree, chair, etc). The questions are repetitive, so that readers/listeners can soon join in and read right along as they anticipate the animal hidden underneath the flap. It's a simple and catchy fun, which will have readers visiting the animals again and again.

MY TIDBITS

This little book invites to be tugged around, flipped through again and again, and simply played with.

The small, sturdy pages in various sizes and shapes give a toy-like appearance and definitely catch the eye. The book is grip-able from all directions...just right for light fingers and hands...and has a nice, sturdy form. Thanks to the almost 3-D effect of the layered pages, it's simple to flip through, too. In other words, this may be a book, but it gives young listeners/readers the chance to feel, poke and prod.

The illustrations are bright and basic. Yet, there are still a few little details to invite into the scenes. Of course, the theme of a fair sets off a happy, excited atmosphere, and that does come across nicely as well. The basic rides of a fair are presented (train, carousel, Ferris wheel, etc.) and clear to identify.
The text is very short and direct, which works as a very quick read-aloud....great for short attention spans.

I can see little toddlers enjoying this book quite a bit, and it'd make a great bring-a-long for a small gift as well.

With different shaped pages, this is a book which invites to explore and discover.

Small and fairly sturdy, this book is made for smaller hands. The various shaped pages allows kids to finger each one with interest and add to the already bright illustrations. The trees, animals and various scenes bring across the beauty and excitement of nature. Young listeners are given a positive view of nature, which will open their own curiosity to what's out doors as well as maybe remind them of some experiences of their own.

A lovely text follow each page—nothing too difficult but enough to interest even the upper spectrum of the age range. It deepens the atmosphere of each scene and fits to the age group nicely.

Summed up, it's a cute little book for young listeners and looks nice too.
