What's Coming in November?

November is here! I'm, honestly, ready for this month. Life has been way too busy this year and I've been driving around like crazy. November signals the beginning of the colder months, which always means a slow-down on the farm and my other outdoor projects. It gives me a chance to pull back into household activities and get things done indoors...which will keep me more than busy too but does take a lighter pace. That also means longer evenings in front of the fireplace, and that signals more reading hours.

This month is heavy on the picture book end. Super heavy. I, actually, had to turn down all sorts of reads to make sure that the other age groups wouldn't be totally pushed out of the schedule. Which is a bit funny, considering this summer was the opposite. But then, the publishing world is every changing. I'm looking at a nice variety of reads and themes on my pile and have a few nonfiction books, some fantasy, a few tenser reads, many nods to the Holiday season, and a touch of science fiction, too. There are even a couple, which head into the timeless end, which I'm really looking forward to sharing with you.

So, let's see what November will hold, shall we?

JEANNIE'S BOTTLE, INCANTATIONS

It's been a very long time, since I picked up a book about a genie in a bottle. So, this one caught my attention immediately. Add that it involves a new, small town and an antique store, and I'm thinking this might be a fun read. There are also mentions of the loss of a parent and some bullying, and I'm hoping this meshes well with the magical aspects. We'll find out more on the 3rd!

THE AMAZING CHEMISTRY IN YOUR HOME

I'm  always on the look-out for wonderful nonfiction reads, and this one seems to be something right up my alley. As a homeschooling mom, I adore books which grab the interest of my kids and inspire them to experiment and learn on their own. I'm hoping this book does that. I'm also hoping that the chemistry ingredients and devices are really things found in everyone's kitchens...and not stuff I can't easily pick-up at a local, small town store. Let's find out how this one does on the 6th!

THE SILENCE OF DECEIT

This read heads into a rich fantasy world (or so I hope), where magic has suddenly been killed out by an evil ruler, and a war rages for decades. Two girls are caught up in the aftermath, one of whom is captured by a dangerous pirate. There's supposed to be intrigue, action, and tons of grabbing back and forth between the characters. I think there's a bit of enemies-to-lovers as well, but that's about all I know, I just hope it's a grabbing read and will find out on the 7th.

Young Adult Fantasy

THE BALLET BUNNY

Doesn't this book look super cute? This is a book, which...if I understood it correctly...lets the reader watch a bunny ballet. From beginning to end, the magic of ballet and the cutest animals around will combine. I'm hoping the illustrations do the moments justice, and that readers will be wanting to dance and experience a magical atmosphere themselves. Let's find out if this one is amazing or not on the 11th.

DUAL WORLD HEROES

I met the author of this book a few years ago, while he was still in the beginning phases. So, you can imagine my excitement when he informed me that his debut novel has hit the world. This one is about scifi battling and dimension monstering fun. I'm looking forward to meeting the characters and hope their adventures are exciting as appear they will be. Let's get ready for some adventure on the 12th.

THE VIOLIN FAMILY PLAYS NEW MUSIC

The calming, wintery cover caught my attention on this read as well as the fact that the entire book is centered around a family of violins. So original! I have no idea if this will be as lovely as I hope it will be, but I'm betting it is. I love finding unique tales, which hold lovely illustrations and atmosphere...and are written in an engaging way. So, we'll find out on the 15th if this book meets those criteria or not.

CANDY CORN CHRISTMAS!

Silliness and humor should never be forgotten in a reading line-up, and this read promises to fill that role well. It slides right in between the Halloween and Christmas seasons, and should be a great fit for this month. I love both candy corn and candy canes, so I'm all over this one. Have some fun with me on the 19th as we dive into this read.

MOST LIKELY TO MURDER

Who's ready for a thriller? I am! Since most of this month hangs in cozy feelings and dreams of the upcoming season, I just had to toss something in to add edge and excitement in the chilling way. This read promises to meet that desire and more. I'm getting high school drama vibes but with a very deadly mix tossed in. Mystery, suspicions, and sheer danger should pack this read from beginning to end. But we'll find out if that's true or not on the 22nd.

Young Adult Thriller

WORLD CUP CLOSE-UP

Sports are always a well-loved and sought category for kids, and there never seems to be enough of these books. This one hits the nonfiction realm and takes a place at the 'greats' of World Cup Men's Soccer. Living in Europe for twenty+ years, I definitely heard and saw a lot of soccer. So, I'm looking forward to flipping through these pages and seeing what it has to offer. Join me for some sports fun on the 25th!

SECRETS IN ICE

Ready for a little winter romance? Actually, this is a retelling of the Snow Queen and should take a very modern twist. That seems perfect for this season, too. Doesn't it? I'm really not sure what to expect with these characters and have no idea which direction it will go. After all, twists and retellings can take very independent directions with the biggest surprises. Snuggle into something warm before we dive into this icy world on the 29th.

Young Adult Fairytale Retelling

There are more books in this world...well, there are more books released even every month into the world than I could ever hope to read in my entire lifetime. That also means that I have more books to get to every month than I have days on the schedule. Since the publishing/reviewing world brings unexpected surprises in so many ways, things shift quite a bit, meaning that a few days open up every month, suddenly. That's where my joker read comes in. This is the book on the top of my reading pile, which hasn't quite found a spot in my schedule. But I plan to pick it up and work it in, somehow.

This month's joker read is...

CREATE YOUR OWN WEBCOMICS WITH WEBTOON

I've heard whispers from many middle graders about how they dream of making their own graphic novel reads, someday. When I saw this read, I immediately thought of them. I also thought 'Hmmmm. This might make an awesome Christmas present for someone.' So of course, I had to pick up a copy! I've seen mixed reviews on it, though. So, it might be a win...and it might not. I'll let you know what I think...maybe. But first, I have to find time to read it!
