MY TIDBITS
There are more than a few puzzles in this book, which are sure to delight word fans.
This book is divided into two types of puzzles. The first is a mix of riddle and word/letter fun, while the second is a more traditional crossword puzzle pack.
The first holds a riddle at the top, such as 'Where does a lamb get a haircut?' There are two vertical rows of words with row of blank spaces in between and the answer is found by seeing which letter is missing from one word compared to its partner. This forms the answer. It's easy enough for even beginning readers and builds word skills. Plus, the jokes are the type which make a person groan, roll the eyes, and smile with a slight chuckle. I have no doubt that some will be used by readers on family and friends later (without the puzzle involved, of course.)
The second batch of puzzles, the crossword ones, offer the word list below the puzzle. So, there's no guessing what words are being used...which makes things much easier and less frustrating. The words are also divided up by the amount of letters, making that part easier on young puzzlers, too. To add the last assistance, two letters are already placed in the puzzle. This creates a crossword puzzle, which is suitable for the younger audience and won't end in complete disappointment. It also helps to build word skills.
All answers are at the end of the book as well as an index to help locate certain puzzles, if that's desired. It's easy to read, no problem to work with, simple to take along...and there's the cute dog on the cover, too.
I not only recommend this one to puzzle fans but also for anyone planning to be underway or out-and-about, who could use a little something to do on the side. Even my teen enjoyed flipping through this one and got a kick out of several of the jokes.
