YA Dystopian, Romance
When the authorities strike to regain control over the riots in Eboracum City and use drastic measures as retaliation against the civilians, the citizens are forced to fight back to survive. A virus has spread through the Underground, taking down the refugees one by one, soon contaminating the rebels. If Thia wants to save the ones she loves, she will have to retrieve the cure, quickly. But certain decisions are costly, and not all actions are free of consequences.
EXCERPT
He
pulls away to look at me, his ardent gaze fascinating me. I can't move. And
then he kisses me so hard that my breath hitches. His mouth comes to claim mine
over and over again, hot and all-consuming, until his lips find the way leading
from my mouth to my neck. His soft tongue strokes my skin, the feeling of it
spreading shivers all the way down my spine. And my body responds in spite of
me. He hardly touched me, but I'm already on fire.
"Chi,
what are you doing?" I gasp the words just as his mouth finds the weak
spot right underneath my earlobe. "My mother..." I can't. I can't
think. "...could walk in at any moment."
He
touches his nose to mine while grinning and shaking his head.
"She
said she was going to the gym, remember? We'll be alone. Just you and me. For a
while. And if she comes back, we'll hear the door. We're fine, Thia."
His
eyes twinkle with need as he pulls me into another heart-stopping kiss.
"Don't
you want to rest, though? You have a long night ahead of you," I babble.
I'm
stalling.
I will try anything to stop this fire from
devouring me. I need him to stop now because I'm not sure I can control myself
much longer.
And here she is. . .
