Happy Book Birthday, Bing, Bop, Bam: Time to Jam! by Valerie Bolling

I've read other picture books from today's author and was excited to learn that she's brought out another read. Like the other ones, this appears to carry tons of goodness and joy. The variety of instruments on the cover are already making me smile. So, I'm hoping that carries through all the pages and leaves a huge smile on the face.

Get ready to dance because this one appears to be full of fun.

MY TIDBITS

Energy and good vibes radiate from every page as this read invites readers to enjoy neighbors, music, and more.

The inside cover already sets the tone with the illustrations of the musical instruments, which will appear in this read, and their names. Then, it dives right into the excitement of a neighborhood street festival. From preparations to spreading the word, the joy builds step-by-step. When the festival starts, each instrument is highlighted as the party takes place.

The text is kept to only two short phrases on each page. These stick to simple rhyme and work well for younger listeners/readers, and especially those who have shorter attention spans. It's the illustrations which take over in this read. These, too, carry a simpler style, allowing details to sit there were needed. While the lines tend to very geometric the colors stay bold and bright. The scenes draw in, are familiar, and support the excitement on every page.

It's a fun read with a very positive atmosphere, and promotes neighborly togetherness and a joy for music.
